    Hi

    We've moved houses recently and the above specimen stands bordering the driveway, most of the leaves show the same spots/damage and it's producing a terrible smell. I'd be grateful if any of you could identify species and disease and ideally a way to tackle it.

    Many thanks

    Leo

    Is it the damage/infection that is causing the smell or the plant itself?

    It's hard to see at the moment as I am on a phone, but I'm wondering if it's a weevil type problem

    New leaves are fine and don't smell at all. I haven't seen any bugs and the problem seems to start with brownish spots.

    Viburnum beetle damage. They are what produce the appalling smell too. Spraying with a good insecticide is about the only thing you can do.

      Thanks Palustris, it seems that we're in between larvae and beetles and that's why I can't see the bugs. Thank you again for the help.

      @LeonardoF
      They look like small caterpillers on the under side of the leaf, you can look on the underside and squish them, here's a pic of mine
