What's this plant ?

    Hi all,

    This plant suddenly appeared in our front garden this year, not sure what it is (weed ??) Any ideas ?

    It's not a weed. I'm not sure but is it some form of Lily?

    Hi there. It looks very much like Euphorbia to me.

    I agree, looks like an Euphorbia.

    ahhhhhhh! I know this plant but I cant remember the ruddy name :( it's got spikes of purple flowers on it later on....

    I know the plant also Aesculus, its almost a weed, but not bad looking.

    Is it a linaria of some kind?

    Were you thinking of Perovskia Blue Spire aka Russian Sage?

    (I thought it could have been that also!)

    Nope it was definitely the plant in the photo as I've had a look for it's name before as I spotted some dumped in a hedge last year from the allotments:scratch:

    Like Freddy, my first thought was a Euphorbia, but I think you are right Pete. It looks like Linaria purpurea - but it is too dark to go and check against mine. It has purple flowers, and there is a pink variety L purpurea 'Cannon Went'. As you say almost a weed, but a worthwhile plant as it flowers for a long time
