Whats This

I got this plant out of mates garden it was growing as a seedling
he cannot remember what its called i cannot find it in any of my books
the parent plant is quite large

Looks like one of the Puyas maybe Puya raimondii

 

That is one of the Eryngiums, probably agavifolium.We have it as a lawn weed.
