Well the primrose has manky old leaves. They would naturally die down in winter so can you can whip them off then and they will produce a new set of leaves in spring. Primroses should not be flowering now but with the season being to pot lots of mine and the polyanthus are flowering away. I have lots in pots and in late winter I whip off the old leaves to clean them up.

There is another possibility - boltrytis, which is a type of mould. If that gets into the buds in the middle it can kill the plant. Get a knife and whip off the brown bits and burn or bin them- they are not doing the plant any good anyway.
I have had it on a few of mine and it was where it was still with damp stagnant air

did you buy them from a garden centre because if they were new stock it could be that they were not hardened off properly after being grown undercover. The weather has recently turned much colder.I would just cut off the affected leaves.

i would guess that it is water damage to your leaves caused by water on leaf and being dried with sunlight!
