Have a careful look under the leaves for tiny insects.

It looks a bit like there was at some stage.
If its just the old leaves and the plant is growing well I'd not be too bother for now.

Am I correct in thinking that it would prefer not to be in a position ideal for a Christmas cactus ?

They're in a sunny window, don't pepper plants enjoy full sun?

Full sun is good for peppers, but it can get very hot on a window sill. I don't think that's the problem though. It looks like aphid damage under the leaf. If it's just one leaf then I wouldn't worry especially as the pests have disappeared.

I'd have the Christmas cactus outside now in semi shade and bring it back in in late September.

Yes but the Christmas cacti may not ! Might be worth checking any other indoor plants for bugs.

My Christmas cacti have both been in this window for years and are quite happy
