I need a potting shed. Strangley, not a lot of detail about this on the webs, or the RHS (shock horror). Dealers say you need large windows and that it should face south. Surely in today's climate that is a recipe for distaster? I could be wrong. Do you have a wooden one or a brick potting shed? South facing? No windows or lots of them? Very productive shed or knock it down and start again shed?

    Thanks for reading.

I just use the greenhouse nice and warm, plenty of light, dry and I can get potting jobs and greenhouse jobs done in the same place while listening to the radio.

Likewise, currently 12x6 shed for tools/storage 8x6 &6x8 greenhouse, first with folding table.... and a chair !
Knee high compost store with flat top surface for 'al fresco' potting in the shade.

            Don't have one.
I do use comfort of my dining room, covering table with paper and repotting houseplants and smaller plants for outdoors.
For large plant I cover the lawn with flattened cardboard, sit down on low bench and work.

A garden chair with small table is my potting venue.

When I had one it became full of junk and couldn't be used for potting, so after the wood started to rot I got rid of it and had a greenhouse in its place.
Said greenhouse is full of cacti and there's no room for potting, so I continue (as always done) to use the covered-over spaces between my old garage and next door boundary wall. There's one on the north side and one on the south side, of the old garage ... I call them my 'shelters'. I shall take photos of them when I get a chance.

I have a Shed that's reasonably tidy. I use this as my potting place.
My Summer House on the other hand is very untidy, I have trouble getting the door open sometimes.

I bought one of these green plastic "potting trays" and put it on the draining board in the kitchen with a stool. But if it's warm outside.

Thank you for all your replies. I'm very amused that no one has a dedicated potting shed. Makes me look a bit silly now. Mony has a brick one which now seems extravegant. Maybe I should get a greenhouse, or maybe a shed then. I think my wife will kill me if I used the dining room. :yikes:

Now a brick one makes sense you can have a stove in there which means tea and toast.

I don't really get the point of a potting shed in a normal sized garden unless you want to save space and have a shed/greenhouse. To me a greenhouse is far more useful if you have somewhere else to store your tools.

A shed is easier to hide in.
