I became ill approx. 18 month ago with cancer which has damaged my nervous system, as a consequence of this I cannot walk, stand or kneel down.

Can anyone have any knowledge or practical help in the Cardiff area to help me build some raised beds which I can reach from all 4 sides from my wheelchair. I would like about 6 raised beds and the rest of my back garden laid to lawn.

Does anyone know of any charities in the Cardiff area which could help me with the above.

Hi, I do sympathise as I spent nearly 2 years gardening from a wheelchair! Any local builder or handyman will be able to make waist-high raised beds out of wooden boarding attached to 2x2 corner posts with screws, bolts or brackets, not nails. It is not the beds themselves which cost the money, but filling them. The better the soil you put in the better the results, and a bit of rubble for drainage in the bottom helps with these higher beds. You need them fairly narrow so you don't have to stretch to reach the middle. Bear in mind that usually the easiest way to get close is from the side of the wheelchair.
You might try the local Round Table for help.
    Good luck!

Have you thought of trying the local council's youth employment scheme, or Help The Aged who may have a list of willing volunteers.

It occurred to me that the local allottment association (chairman?)might have a few friendly gardener/chippy types.
It might be worth a try contacting him/her.

We'd probably all like to nip down to Cardiff and offer our joinery skills! I expect you already know about the BBC site that may provide suitable links -http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/mid/sites/gardening/
