    image.jpg image.jpg Hi guys,
We currently have 2 cucumber plants growing in our greenhouse.
This is our first time either me or my fiancée have ever grown cucumbers and aren't too sure when they are ready to harvest.
I know the smaller one isn't ready yet but here are the biggest cucumber from each plant.

    Liam

It depends on the variety to some extent. I would want them to be a fairly even diameter along the length.
I cut mine when they are a 12" to 18" long and 1 to 1.5" in diameter along the length, a uniform colour and appearance.

When they are big enough to go in your lunch box :heehee:

No, seriously, do you know what type you grew?

I usually grow the smaller one's as it's only me that likes them. :snork:

OH hates them, though if I have any left over, they are frozen and I put them in
soup, to bulk it up, and he is none the wiser :nonofinger::whistle:

Liam, to be honest, they look like they're as big as they're going to get to my eyes. I'm thinking the pots are too small.

I have no idea what kind we grew haha
I will learn to take more notice
We did leave the pot labels in however where that have got to I don't know...
Is there any signs to look out for for the best time to harvest them?
If they are not harvested on time and left too long is this a problem?

If you don't pick them they will ripen. Gradually get fatter turn yellow and the seeds inside will get bigger.
The problem with not picking them is that the plant will stop producing female flowers and you won't get any more cucumbers. If you keep cutting them the plant will continue to produce fruit in a vain attempt to reproduce.

As I remember Femspot is an all female hybrid that should produce cues very similar to those you find in the supermarket.

I've got to agree with Freddy on this, those pots are way too small, the plant will struggle to grow good full size cues in small pots.
