Hi again. Excitingly, my cucumber plants have actually grown cucumbers. At the moment, the biggest ones are slightly longer than my hand, and they're prickly. Are they big enough to pick, or should I leave them a little bit longer? Ta.

Depends which variety. I usually grow the smaller 'burpless' ones and they are excellent picked at the size yours are now.

No surprises - I have no idea what variety they are. When I planted them, I didn't think as far as them growing any fruit :)

Note to self: Next year, DO NOT throw seed packets away.

No worries Eldy, I blame pixies for coming and stealing all my plant labels :)

Just try one and see, that lumpy/bumpy surface on your cucumbers does look like one of the smaller burpee varieties - I'm sure they will be OK to eat now.

Just bit one - it tastes amazing. (I'm working from home today, with the emphasis more on "at home" than "working".)

I grew them 2 years ago when I had a greenhouse. The difference in taste between them and supermarket ones were no contest.

Yes undoubtedly all home grown fruit and veg is several levels above what you find in the supermarkets.
