Should I plant then in the position where they will be sited or should I start them off in pots, trays in the green house. ASny suggestion will be appreciated.

Hi Milmar. It is entirely up to you and what weather conditions you are having up your way at the moment. They can be planted out now in the position you want them in if the soil is ready for them.If you have an area already weeded and raked to a tilth, then you can just push them into the soil.If the ground is yet unprepared or very wet, then there is no harm in starting them off in trays of multi purpose compost.Water the trays of compost, then push the sets one by one into the compost and put the trays somwhere cool where they will start to root after a week or so.If they start pushing themselves out of the compost ,then just push them back in again.Remember to water the trays when they start to dry out.
You can then put them out when the soil conditions are right for them.Shallots can be done in the same way...

    Good Luck [IMG]
