I have one huge fruit on the plant and nothing else! It is tan colour underneath but still some green stripes on top. It's massive though and I can't help feeling that it is sucking all of the life out of the rest of the plant (there was another fruit but this did not do so well once this larger fruit took hold. Should I take it off the plant and can it continue to ripen once it is off of the vine? :cnfs:

I think you should have had more fruit BUT we're in the middle of August now.
Squash are not frost hardy so I doubt if you have time to get some more going and ripened before first frost.
I think I would just leave the whopper you have to ripen - and plan for next year.
