ming, you are not alone, are you going to grow from seed or use small, shop bought plants? If seed do you have a heated greenhouse? If so you could start sowing next month. If growing from plants, they should start coming onto the market towards the end of next month or early April. Again, where you are i would suggest growuing them on in a heated greenhouse until outside conditions have improved.

I work in a gardencentre and we have just had our herb delivery! - rather too early to my mind!
We put fleece over the herbs like basil/marjoram/coriander at night.
For a good selection i would buy now and keep them tucked up for a bit.

wilroda, I worked in a garden centre for 12 years, the last 7 as plantarea manager. And I am amazed you`ve had your herbs in this early, especially Basil and Coriander.

No greenhouse, and very high and exposed here, frosts until 1st june. I sit and drool over catalogues and just want things NOW but in the past I have bought an awful lot of stuff that just went in there and promptly died...
this year I'm going to get just Scottish native stuff and anything else that might live up here. Can I put them in pots on windowsills now maybe?

Give it a try ming, as long as you turn the pots regularly so that the plants don`t get drawn, I don`t see too much of a problem.
