Where can i buy good quality turf?

I would like to buy good quality turf for the best price possible - where is the best place to get it from? I really dont have much idea of where to start! I don't want the really cheap, weedy stuff, but nor do i want an ornamental type grass. I want it to look nice but also be fairly hardwearing as we have pet rabbits (and children in the future!)

Thats great - thank you very much. I will def avoid B&Q - ive seen their turf and thought it can't be good that its sitting therer for days at a time. I know you need to lay it asap

 

I too avoid B&Q.

If you buy it locally, find out what day they get their turf deliveries and go that afternoon. Sometimes it takes a while to recover if you buy it when it's been on a pallet for a couple of days.

 

I got a load of turf a couple of years ago from my local garden centre - it's delivered once a week and the day before they get the new batch, the older stuff is reduced to £1.00 per roll.
