I was born in Glasgow, in a room and kitchen, directly above a fish and chip shop.
I shared the room and kitchen with another 2 children, my brothers, and also 3 adults,
    Maw, Paw, and Grannie.

I remember whatever my mother cooked the house was Stinking with Fish and Chips, wafting through the floor boards.:sick0026:.

I think Jesus had more space in a stable in Bethlehem than I had in my Room and Kitchen..

What are your memories of where you were born. ?..

The building I was born in has been pulled down, so there will be nowhere to stick the plaque when I become famous.......

I was born in Creswell Maternity Hospital, and then lived the first few years of my life in a pokey wee one bedroom flat in Dumfries; we then moved to a pokey wee one bedroom cottage only a stones throw from Cresswell Maternity Hospital and I lived there until my early teens.

I mainly remember the cold times in the cottage - - when we moved in, it had nothing in the way of heating at all, so we had a gas fire installed. This was great in the living room, but the rest of the house was like a freezer with thick ice on the inside of the metal framed windows during winter.

A few years before we moved out, we got Economy 7 heating fitted, and it was.... rubbish. Place like a sauna during the night and early mornings, and then by evening time you were freezing your bits off.

Twin tub washing machine in the kitchen until my mum got herself "The appliance of science" - a Zanussi automatic washing machine; colour TV with 3 channels, and a telephone with a party line.... and oh, what an event it was when we got a video recorder! Rented from Radio Rentals and came with a free blank tape! Boy, we were the talk of the steamie when we got that!

          Apple Blossom,

You know when you say " I remember most of those things"........

Does that mean you used to live with FC

And of course, who could forget DER or Rumbellows..

I even remember that the TV repair man paying a visit was something of an occasion back in the day - - goodness knows why; perhaps it is because they were seen almost as magicians who could make a sick TV work again

I was born in a third storey, one bedroom flat overlooking Roker Beach Sunderland
Now the house is available for offers over £355k :-)

I remember nothing about it, though I often when on my visits to home, drive past and gaze in a wondering way (about once a year)

I was born in a Victorian two up two down, with the usual, "breakyourneck" staircase.
It didn't have a bathroom, the bath was in the scullery with a wooden top over it, used as work space most of the time, filling it was via an old "copper", that was put on to boil.

It had a small yard, and a "right of way" crossed the garden, which allowed other access to the backs of their houses .
Dont remember it being cold as such, as there was a door leading to a very dingy cellar full of coal.
But I was only there until I was 3, its still there now.

I was born at the first nhs hospital! (Park Hospital/Trafford)
Lancashire lass, resided in Central Manchester as a young 'un now in Cheshire at the border of Lancashire and Derbyshire.
Still living in a house with the killer staircase (saves on Gym membership). Progressed along the way from outside loo/ no bath and frost on the inside of windows in winter to all mod cons. Appreciate them all the more for the waiting!
I think this is why I like camping, it takes me back to a childhood of not having everything literally on tap!
                        Happy days!

Billinge hospital is no more @Prkns ! Knocked down quite a few years ago to build 5 bedroom houses.
I was born at home in a very cold 1950s winter . We lived in a terraced house in what was then quite a nice area. Seems to be full off asylum seekers now.
I have gradually moved west from my birthplace at a rate off 176 yards per year

I know @HarryS, I have a lot of friends and family in Wigan, born, bred and part raised in Swinley and Standish. There's a slight feeling of sadness knowing that Billinge doesn't exist anymore.
