Hi, I am a newbie to this site but it certainly looks interesting. I have accumulated various gardening books over the years, but I'm wondering if someone can reccommend a kind of Gardeners Dictionary. I suppose it is the latin 'meanings' I am after,as opposed to the actual names...eg..elata, meaning tall, and I hope I am correct in 'ticulata' meaning 'globe'like..grateful for any corrections of course! Any-one any suggestions of books I can put on my Christmas list for Santa?

You'll have to go a long way to beat the Royal Horticultural Society's Plant Finder. Although there are other's, this is the definitive work.

You might also try Thompson & Morgan's website which is pretty informative. http://www.thompson-morgan.com/en

Thanks for the info m'daisy. Have seen what I want on e-bay and also done a bit of Christmas shopping on T&M! A good days work indoors, as it was too wet to go outside!
