    Good Afternoon all

Abit of forward thinking here, i'm wondering what sort of compost to use for my summer bedding plants this year. They will be in containers on a south facing wall which gets very hot in the summer. Last year i used multi purpose compost, which gave fairly good results but it dried far out to quickly. Had to water twice a day. Does anyone have there own mixtures or just use multi purpose?
    Regards Sean

MP is usually fine, and I add vermiculite or perlite (from Wilkinsons) for water retention.

A mulch of bark chippings on the surface will help retain moisture.

    Good luck

Westlands has a new compost out which is supposed to be more water retentive. It should be available from your local garden centre. David.
