Can anyone suggest any evergreen shrubs/bushes to plant in our new border.

It's an open aspect, can get quite windy but has full sun.

The border has two purposes - to create a wind break for the rear garden, and to act as a security barrier from the road.

We want it to look nice (ie not just a row of conifers), hopefully attract birds/wildlife, and be evergreen.

    Any suggestions welcome...

    thanks

To the suggestions already posted, add Berberis and mahonia.
