I know there are some hydrangea experts on here, this is another rescue plant-honest I am not nicking all of these plants I swear, people just keep giving me things that look dead, and I do occasionally watch what people chuck away;).

this shot is me trying to get all "flash" with my camera (moan)

it doesn`t show up that well in these pics but it the petals have a slight translucent lilac about the edges too.

Also it is looking a bit yellow on the leaves, I know this is a deficiency of some sort and have given it a feed of tomato feed. It is growing in almost totally compost with a peat substutute thrown in for good measure and I chucked on some poultry manure pellets too-wilkinsons. any suggestions

    Hydrangea macrophylla "White wave", imho.

Yellow leaves are lacking iron. Iron chelate is the best way for fixing this ;)

Hydrangeas are misunderstood, because of the horrid commercial varieties we were fed on for decades. There are some truly wondrous cultivars out there ;), mostly of japanese origin.

Lolli, if you like hydrangeas then you are not all that far from the national collection of them :thumb:.

They are at the Lakeland Horticultural Society Gardens at Holehird near Windemere. The gardens are really worth a visit. They have a few national collections but they also have a fantastic walled garden and other gardens.

Here are some photos of the hydrangeas and some of the walled garden.
