My sister bought me a huge terracotta planter for my 60th . Can anyone recommend the best varieties of large fruited perpetual strawberries to plant ? Plus any pointers on growing them.

    TIA

    .

    Hi!

I grow two so called perpetual varieties, Aromel which we all like the taste of and Mara des Bois (french) which I don't like the taste of but which my wife and kids think is the best!

I have found that with these two, I have to replace the plants with new runner after every season!

    Hope this helps!

Blimey Harry, I thought you were in your 30s/40s from the way you talk

I've planted Aromel in the autumn, but otherwise I just grow alpines & native wild strawbs.

    You're having a laugh now. :D

Sorry, just wandered off to watch last nights Doctor Who & the Vietnam Kitchen Garden.

Like a laugh by the way, can't wait to meet up this year.

Just got to organise the first ever Gardeners Corner annual get together.

Haven't thought this one through yet:DOH:
