    Hi, all

Novice here. I have two apples trees (well, one of them is more like a bush) in my garden. When I moved into the property, the previous owner told me that the larger one produced 'cookers' (I have since been told it's a Bramley), and the smaller bush-like tree produced 'eaters'.

Question is, is there any way of finding out precisely which variety of apple they produce? I could post photos if it helps.

    Many thanks.

"Apple Day", in the Autumn, will have lots of places open for the tasting of varieties of Apples (in the hope they can then flog you a plant :) ) and some/many of those will offer an ID service too. A Google for "Apple Day 2013" will hopefully turn up a location near to you :)

I'd never heard of 'Apple Day', which is embarrassing because my own religious beliefs, which I invented by the way, requires me to know about such things.

Here are a couple of pics of the smaller one. (I haven't take pics of the larger one, because I'm sure now that it's a Bramley.) If the first pic doesn't give a great perspective, I can tell you that the bush/tree is about five feet tall.

If there isn't a local 'apple day' event then you can send samples to the Brogdale Collection and they'll identify them. It does cost though.
