Ladies and gentlefolk, it finally happened!

Darren got his mate around, and they started doing the garden! :D

I cannot tell you how incredibly happy i am. I have so been looking forward to having a garden, or at least a patio for the summer, and it looks like we're going to have one!

After a days hard work they managed to do a major dump run with all the rest of the excess junk in the garden, cut back loads and loads of the over growing mess that was attempting some sort of empire take over across the patio and have desimated the front save for two fushias who were almost strangled to death but have survived.

We topped it off with some brews over my sister in laws place and recruited a friend of hers who is a landscaper for the gardens at the local golf club and hes coming in to help do some of the more not so 'anyone-friendly' jobs that need doing in the garden.

So hopefully another bright weekend soon, he'll have a few more mates over and more will be done! I'm so excited, and look forward to hosting my first garden party :D

Here are a few photos from the weekend! We still have some of the old overgrown weedy pots but they're being replaced by my beloved lilies and roses on the patio, ever growing!

All the wonderful books that members of the forum sent me a year ago are coming in so useful, thank you so so much! We're becoming so inspired and enjoying days at garden centres together!

:) You must tell us your plans for it all now.. I realise it will have to be low maintenance, but that shouldn't be a problem...;):D

So pleased for you Whiley! Glad you've got enough help, you'll soon have it looking good. :thumb:

Wow! that fuchsia and hydranger look stunning, and they are things that bloom for quite a while. :)

Last photo - what is that growing over the fence, also along the fence at the front left?

Looks like you have several nice things for a start - Good Luck! :thumb:

Thank you so much folks! Still a lot to be done, waiting on the lads pulling up whats grown into the gravel and treating the soil out the front, plus making sense of the over grown trees and shrubs, but in the mean time, i'm going to enjoy having a patio!
I want hundreds of potted flowering crazy things :D Only have 4 at the moment.

Kedi-Gato i have no idea what they are, i will get some closer shots, do some research and see what you folks think of them in the morning! Can play a guessing game!

Well, you certainly had a lot of pluck to have taken on that mess, Whiley  The best thing was that greenhouse. It looks so new, I think you must have put it in.

Sorry, I missed the April pics, but things are looking good. Ah, a pine tree, I love them. It gives a nice bit of heigth and structure to the garden.

Actually the greenhouse was put in just before Darrens mum became ill [reminder on the story, Darren bought the house from his mum when she became unwell and she died of cancer several years later, I joined him in the house about 2 years later i think] so the green house lost the main door panel and one of the top panels broke through somehow, and Darren stored a lot of her gardening things in there when it wasn't in proper use.

I wouldnt ind it getting cleaned up and maybe some kind of door and extra panel going in there to fix it up to maybe store things that need frost protection in the winter [and so the neighbours cats stop using it as a summer house] but as far as growing things in there go, my spider fears would probably stop me from accessing it too often, so i'm thinking of setting up a propargator [right word? spelt wrong?] in the spare room.
