I think it is a bit early to use the biological solution. Perhaps you could hang up the sticky yellow traps. I think I heard once of vacuuming them off. I think someone was using some sort of battery vacuum and they brushed their hands over the foliage and it sucked them out of the air.

You know i was a bit worried yesterday.I was clearing a patch to dig over for taties,it`s where last yrs brussles and cabbages had been.I`d already dug the sprouts out a while ago and layed them all at the side of garden(someone had borrowed the wheelbarrow)anyway, when i threw them all into the barrow yesterday there were millions of whitfly. Will they be in the soil?Do you think maybe i should treat the patch with something to be on the safe side or am i being thick?

Can I suggest asking at the garden centre about biological control?
It is where you introduce a predator of the white fly which eradicates the pest but that dose not harm anything else.
Otherwise, as someone has put forward, sticky fly traps. Regards, Fonzie.

I got told at a talk at our fuchsia club this was fuchsia but it could be used on any plant.

At the end of the season to spray soil and roots of plant with well diluted jeyes fluid .

Personally have not tryed this myself yet but this chap shows his plants an all the big shows and wins.

Now that`s something most of us have on the shelf Scotkat.Maybe I`ve left it a bit late for the soil but i do clean tomato containers and the like with it and it hasn`t hurt them so i`ll definitly make a note of that.Thanks. [IMG]

I've known white fly to live quite happily under the leaves of my viburnum tinus in the coldest of winters. Just as long as it isn't in my greenhouse

We have white fly flying about in Kent. I also have loads of whitely in my compost. Do you think this will affect white fly in the rest of the garden? :(
