I have a Kalanchoe plant which was bought for me some months ago but which I sadly neglected to the point where it was pretty much decimated. However, there's still life there and new shoots are appearing but so is a persistent white furry mould at the very base of the stem just above the soil level.

I carefully rubbed off the mould a few days ago but it's come back - I've now put the plant outside in the sun in the hope of drying out the mould and the soil a bit. I know that Kalanchoe shouldn't be over-watered and I think I may have done just that when I initially noticed my neglect.

Is there anything else that I should do to combat the mould, or is it best now just to leave the plant outside in the sun and not keep it indoors for a few weeks? (and not over-water of course).

You could try re-potting your plant into fresh compost.

    That's a good idea, thanks.
