I have found a pest on our hydrangeas, it looks like cotton wool but then turns into a chrysalis or grub. It is only attacking the hydrangeas and nothing else in the garden. All the leaves are then shriveling up and turning brown.

I have removed all the hydrangeas but would like to know what the problem is before i put any more in.

I have attached two photos one of the cotton wool stage and another of the chrysalis'.

Would be interested to know what this is, thanks.

[IMG] oldgold.. Well I don't grow Hydrangeas, but that looks suspiciously like Hydrangea Scale.. Squidge remove & burn or bin any bugs etc then spray with Provado Ultimate Bug control.. I use Provado for many of todays bugs. Lily Beetle too with great sucess. it is a systemic so you will need to spray again in about 2 & 1/2 months after.. :sunny:
