White Violets

    This is only the third year that these white Violets have shown themselves among a grassy bank,I never planted them that's for sure,and I wondered if anyone else has them and if they are actually common.

    There's a white form of Sweet Violet - Viola odorata - which is unusual but not particularly rare. The other white violets are unlikely to be near Broadway, I think - Fen Violet (Viola persicifolia), which is very rare, and White Violet, Viola alba, which doesn't normally occur in Britain so far as I know. Don't think there are any others.... But isn't it a beauty? Wow!

    Pal,we bought these from our old garden where we used to live and they are slowly spreading...

    Here are some small yellow ones we bought froma nursery,but cannot remember where

    Pal whilst not common they are around in hedgerows etc - not as strongly smelling as the blue dog violet but very much the same. Found a clump in a hedgerow last spring, and liberated a couple of bits for my garden.
