My mum and dad live in a village in Sussex, very rural. There is a common spotted orchid in their garden, which has been coming up for the past couple of years. They put chicken wire round it to protect it from the rabbits. This year it had three lovely flower spikes. But then a couple of days later they got up and all three were gone - eaten probably.
They get rabbits, deer, badgers, foxes and plenty of birds. Who is likely to be the culprit? (I have got my money on the deer)

    What a shame Jen.
I think I would put my money on the deer too. Those beautiful bandits put their gorgeous lips on anything they can find. I had them marauding in my last garden and much heartache and expense they caused me until I accepted reality and fenced them out. It was an expensive and time consuming thing to do but it solved the problem where all else had failed.
I could then enjoy watching the deer - outside my garden.
