I had a bit of a fright this morning. Woken up by terrible pain in my feet and ankles. For the past week or so, my right instep and ankle have been swollen. Straight away my daughter says, go to the doctors. I am not one for visiting the GP too often.

As of late, I have spent much of my time indoors and wearing carpet slippers. I put it down to lack of support to my feet. Anyway today. The slightest movement made me yelp. In time I managed to get up and stand. B/Hell it felt like my feet were in a crusher. I applied Volterole pain eze and sat with my feet raised above my waist which helped but even now @22.20 the ole' trotters still hurt. Self diagnosis is arthritis. I have an appointment with the dermatologist 29th for my psoriosis which is out of control, perhaps this is psoriotic arthritis. Never mind. There are thousands worse off.

 

I don't think it is Psoriatic arthritis Mike. I suffer from it but don't get any swelling but then mine isn't in my feet and ankles.

 

Hi mike i am no docter but when i was a carer i saw many things including large swollen ankles and feet and swollen ankles are common and can be extremely painful it often goes away on its own but if it does not you must see your. GP especially if it does not get better in a few days
you said you already suffer from psoriasis so you could have psoriatic arthritis which could have spred to your ankles and feet which is extremely painful especally as the condition progresses.
Your Toes and feet may become that swollen and tender, and warm to touch, they may no longer fit into your shoes. Your podiatrist may recommend special footwear also Mild exercise like walking, , or swimming to keep joints flexible and reduce pain, simple Stretching exercise can help also putting shoe custom inserts) in your shoes can relieve some pressure on painful areas and try to Wear comfortable footwear like athletic shoes,or if severe, diabetic shoes but have a word with podiatrist
Another . Cause could be you might have oedena which is caused by a build-up of fluid in these areas, so you would be advised to see a gp or health docter

Today I was more comfortable. The Voltrovol eased the pain. Today I have worn my lace-up shoes and found that extra side support. I sat for some time with my legs raised above my waist level and the swelling has reduced a lot. I'm sure things will improve when I can get back to the garde and get out more.

 

@Mike Allen I am sorry to hear about your pain but happy that you are actively working on getting comfortable.

But that's not good enough. Get to the bottom of it! See your doctor and start the discovery process please.

No. Except when being prepared for surgery.

 

Well eventually today, I managed to get outside into the garden. Phew! it reall was such a nice day and in the area of my front door, it was so hot. I intended just to get rid of the sudden invasion of weeds and to sweep up.

I had to go to the greenhous for a broom and long-handled loppers. One of my climbing roses had gone AWOL and grown over the fence and was about to climb the roof tiles of next door.

The greenhouse. What a mess. It resembled a morgue. Everything dead apart from two pots of lillies, they had new growth of 18-20 inches. Unbelievable, as I hadn't been in there and watered fo the past year. Back to the front door area. I was soon joined by three cxats, who followed my every movement. I took pity onthese cats, as her downstairs seldom provides a meal for them.

Almost finished and I began to itch. This itching really get bad, first my skin shows a rash, this soon develops into what I identified as Hives. This can start even when having a meal. Never mind thinks I. My GP prescribed some anti histamine tablets the other day. Seeing the size of each tablet, I wondered which end of my anatomy I should apply them to.

Taking one with a glass of water. Immediately I felt really ill. I thought, due to the sudden chest pain that I was having a heart attack, B/Hell it was so painful. I downed pleny of water in the hope of getting this drug out of my system. Then real abdominal pain. I am quite used to this area of pain due to being a victim of IBS. It got worse. I did manage to expell most of the drug. I hung on as long as I could and finally rang Amanda, she and grandson Josh were soon with me. Amanda rang the surgery and another doctor spoke to her. He was shocked that the dosage of these tablets was so high. He said that such a high dose should never be given to a man of my age. Should I not improve then to go to A&E. He is prescribing another drug that I have had before. Thankfully I now feel so much better. I do apologise for going on about my problems, but I have to talk to someone. Thanks for listening.

Thanks Janet. As my friends here on GC no doubt realise, Amanda, my youngest...early 50's is so close to me. Being she is so disabled herself, I try not to burden her with too much.
