A report out today says that, in this country, mobile phone use averages three hours forty minutes per day. :hate-shocked:

I don't have a mobile phone, so who is using my time? :heehee:

I think there should be a limit on its use but that people should be able to use mobile offsetting (just like carbon offsetting) by buying mobile time from people like me. I accept cheques (some of you probably wonder what they are!). :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

More worrying is that they say 72% of mobile time is made up of using gaming apps.

    Out of curiosity:

How many of you take your mobile with you almost everywhere, including the loo?

Do you turn it off at night?

Do you put it on silent when in company?

Do you have it on the table when having a meal?

Do you look at it whilst in the cinema or theatre?

Do you text whilst in a restaurant?

Do you get upset or worried if you don't have it with you?

Nomophobia is a quickly rising trend in students and youngsters. Do you get anxious if your phone is not immediately handy?

Mine is on all the time, but I never really use it. Only occasionally I might use it to text friends if I can't get hold of them via my land line.

If I'm out it goes on to silent mode ( vibrates in pocket).

I like the feeling of always being contactable to our children. Also my phone is linked to my elderly father's and my disabled brother's emergency call out alarm.

Like you Shiney, I don't use one but T'Other Half has one superglued to him. He also is a Facebook person. I find none of it benefits our life except that it is useful when out in case of emergencies. Sadly most Portuguese use them, even businesses. It is weird to see little old widows, all in black, hunched over hobbling along with cane and a mobile phone to their ear! :rolleyespink:

This photo was taken at the most sacred Buddhist Pagoda in Myamar and probably in all Asia.

Monks come from all over to pray! :rolleyespink:

I should put this in the 'latest moan' thread really ...but....(keep it clean Loli ) I hate the damned things.Yes I do have a mobile (for emergencies only) but otherwise it's sat there stagnant.
I have had no end of conversations about Fakebook and the likes and I'll never grasp why a 'family' member want you to be a 'friend'..They are Family for christ sake, they know where
I live if you want to speak to me then pop round and do it...
Annndddd as for those that are glued to their phones at dinner parties and functions I think it's down right ignorant.....

Exactly the way I use mine! Quite happily, there are still areas of this country, especially in the north that are mobile free. There is no coverage.

I always thought a trunk call was a Doctor making a home visit to a sick owl...:heehee:

It's not a new thing, we saw this in Rome:

                            upload_2020-1-16_18-10-10.png

Mine has buttons and a camera for novelty value, but nothing smart in it. I can call and text. It's always on silent so I tend to miss all my calls as it's not usually in my pocket. Not getting any Good Mother/ daughter points there :heehee:

My phone is basically for emergencies. I can't remember when it was last used. Being pay as you go, it's got to be three years since I last put £10 on it and that hasn't been used.
