    Help guys!

My budleja has been flowering nicely but all of a sudden the flowers are dropping off all together. The bee's are bereft and the butterflies won't come near if it continues

Only have 5 flowering bits left now, all will be gone by morning :(

I love that bush like its a member of the family and it repays me by popping its clogs without a care for my feelings [IMG]

...maybe you could replace it with a nice pink Pampas?

    Lady,

I think you may be spot on there - due to the fact that one of the dog's i train has now killed the flowers on the miniature rose bush with acid otherwise known as pee, maybe i should claim on my business insurance [IMG]

Mind you i must say that the olive tree and other bits and bobs are surviving even my most vigorous efforts to "help them along" :D

Found out why Budleja is dying,

Husband sprayed the fence panels, he said he used dust sheets to cover bushes, plants etc but obviously not enough. I found suspicious brown speckles at the back of bush so chemicals (and husband), have started the process of slow death of my beloved budleja :( :( [IMG]

Have to start again, i loved that bush, refusing to cook tonight as a punishment for him (and the entertainment as he really has no idea how to cook for himself). :D :D :D

Hmm - the dreaded spray gun. Funny how they never mention that problem on the ads, isn't it?

In my 2nd house the (now ex-) wife thought she'd surprise me by paying for someone to come in and paint the fences. There were about 40 panels so I was grateful. Problem was they painted both the young clematis too.

Unfortunately a bit late now, but the best thing I've found is the sponge pad applicator - the heavy duty one that comes with the paint, not one you use for interior decorating - paint goes on very quickly and no splashback. Use a little brush to cut in if needed.

It may not be dead! Cut back the affected branches and wait..... they are very hardy, it may regrow. [IMG]

Hi there [IMG] my budd` was losing its flower buds before they had properly developed, I cut it back and it came back with new growth with small buds on them.

No bees left to speak of and the butterflies have been very scarce this year.

Hi Pip, hi Liz and anyone else that answered :D including OB of course [IMG]

I did cut it back brutally (i had the hump that day and took it out on the pruning  )

And guess what - it has done exactly what Liz said! It is now flowering again although a bit lopsided [IMG]

Have hidden key to shed so hubby can't foil my efforts further [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Hey Paula. Just spotted this thread (bit slow you know [IMG] ) and you know the pampas problem? I've got it with butterfly bushes. It just got too big a few years ago so I brutally hacked it back and painted it with some weed killer supplied by a farmer friend. ('It will kill anything!') Huh! Anything but budds. Every year I spray it with every weed killer I can lay my hands on. Every year the purple monstrosity comes back.

So if yours does pop its clogs just pop up the A1 and along the A64 with a very long trenching spade (I've tried digging it out with a standard one) and I will donate one that is unkillable. :D
