We saw this yesterday in the Schloss Garden. The thorns were up to about 4 cm long. The bush was about 100 cm tall, no idea if it was fully grown as there was no sign on it. Does anyone have an idea of what it is, please?

Euphorbia splendens or Euphorbia milii or some other euphorbia. The original crown of thorns of biblical fame is my guess. Horrible.

It could be. But how can you tell Pete without seeing the fruit or flowers? That isn't a sarcastic question by the way, I really would like to know. I thought the 'Flying dragon' was not so closely knit.

I had a large plant a few years ago John.
    Once seen never forgotten.
Have even grafted citrus onto it, so I have grown it from cuttings for years, Have only a couple of small plants these days.

Those long green thorns and stems are unmistakable.
As they say in "who wants to be a millionare" how sure? Answer. 100%. :D

Oh, that is it and I have found a pic where it has fruit on it. I wouldn't like to harvest these oranges!

I learn something every day. For example yesterday I learned that Gin and Lucozade does not make you drunk and healthy at the same time. :D

Oh and Kedi, apparently the fruit is inedible (i.e. horrible) so don't worry about harvesting.

Horrible is too nicer word when explaining what the fruit of this plant tases like.
    :D

Firstly John, I have never managed to get drunk on Lucozade, and I dont think Gin is considered very healthy, so why you should think this in the first place baffles me. :D

Pete, scientists are supposed to do this sort of thing to save the rest of us. The sacrifices they make for us is unbelievable. [IMG] [IMG] :D

I remember having Poncirus outside my house in Havant years ago and I remember the spines, it was never a stunning looking shrub, fortunately an Idigofera was growing through it which gave it a strange but improved appearance.

I have never tried Lucozade and don't drink spirits so I wouldn't make a very good scientist or drinking companion for John. :D
