I'm surprised there's not a sub-forum for wildlife gardens so I'll post this here. I'm wondering really whether people actualy take into consideration which plants they choose to encourage wildlife to their gardens? Sorry if this question has come up before somewhere...

There is the Herbs and Wildflower section Rob, which while used for questions/threads on herbs mainly, could also be used for your suggestion.

However, if you feel there should be one, post in the suggestions box and the powers that be can discuss :)

Thanks Aaron might just do that if anyone else is interested?

I guess many would shudder at the thought of a nettle patch though! Seriously though, just an example, there's been a serious drop in the number of bees over the last decade and perhaps as gardeners should we consider adding more nectar rich plants to give them a helping hand. We need more Bees!!

I think it's a great idea. And nothing wrong with having a Nettle patch. I have a small one at the back of a border :)

I do leave some nettles at the end of my garden but I'm not sure there are enough to count. However, I have noticed the bees particularly like buddleia and lavender in my garden, although they like other things too, of course.

I went to a talk about bees at our local RSPB centre during the summer, and I can give you their link if you want to find out what gardeners can do to help: www.bumblebeeconservation.org

Do have a look, it's brilliant.

A very informative site Tiarella and they list a good selection of bee-loving plants, thanks.
I doubt your small nettlebank will be insignificent.
