I saw this wierd pine recently in Cyprus.

It was only about 1 meter tall and had both short and long needles. There were a few other of the short-needled variety growing in the same bed, only this one had both sorts.

Both long and short needles grow out of the same twigs/branches too.

    Does anyone have an idea?

Just guessing, but it looks to me like its a blue dwarf form of a particular pine, but its reverting to the species on certain branches, which will probably grow faster and take over.
