Celandine seen this morning, a lucky sighting of an exceptionally early flower as the sheep were being brought off the hill to be treated and moved to winter quarters, and we had to make a small detour to avoid the operation, and saw it on our revised route.

Noticed these ones in bloom on 23rd December !

Please excuse quality of camera phone images.

I happened across these tiny wild crocus on the banks of the river Tees at Croft. Never seen these wild before. Are they crocus? Is the plural of crocus really crocus? Or could it be....Crocus'. Crocuses. Crocii? IMG_0632a.jpg

Hi @Agent Orange these are lovely small flowers and we usually get a small show of them with our daffs in the front garden but with this weather they've showed no appearance

                          Hi @Scrungee

I should have mentioned that this was only last wednesday, so I guess it couldnt be Meadow Saffron as the article says they are autumn flowering.
Digging further, I suppose Crocus tommasinianus is the closest I can find.

Good afternoon @Agent Orange my friend and very nice they are to:smile:

"Crocuses" is the most common form, but the Latin masculine plural "croci" may be used as well.
