    I feel I ought to know this, but.......
    Lots of it growing along the verge of our lane.
    The stem is square by the way.

    Reminds me of Filipendula ulmaria, Meadowsweet....

      Here is one seen on our walk today with pretty little bell flowers if anyone can help. I did think I had taken a clearer photo of it though! The flowers were small, maybe just 1-2cm.
