    Hi everyone.

I recently cut down an old cherry blossom tree that had seen better days and was casting a massive shadow. I've got rid of most of it but have decided to keep some of the thicker logs that range from 6" to 8" in diameter and 12" to 18" long. My thinking being that I could somehow use them to help attract wildlife to the garden.

As i'm a beginner to any type of gardening it was an idea that popped into my head rather than a well thought out plan. The only idea i've come up with (and i'm not even sure it makes any sense!) is to make a small wood pile, that would attract insects, giving the birds a bit more food. I know, not very original!

Would anyone be able to offer some suggestions?

    Ant.

Thanks for the link. It looks like this will have been my easiest garden project so far. :D

Ant, you will be amazed how it will teem with wildlife:thumb: I made a log pile over a nettle patch to help the winged variety too;)

Thanks for posting your wood piles. Here's my attempt in a secluded part of the garden ...
