Made a mistake buying a Chocolate Cosmos from Wilkos, a root in a bag (Dutch grown), now it has sprouted I can see I am the 'proud' owner of a Dahlia.:frown:
Just like the 'Lemon' I bought there last year which was a Calamondin Orange.
These growers must just chuck anything in a bag and put on any label.

To be honest, I like Wilcos for their inexpensive standard variety seeds, (also propretory brands) and some of the accessories - canes, gloves, compost, lawn feed etc., - but I wouldn't buy 'living' plants or bulbs, roots etc., as apart from the unknown provenance the shop environment is not suited to growing subjects. - Best buy from a proper local garden shop.

Spruce, may be it's not a Dahlia, I haven't grown it before and was expecting the the leaves to be feathery similar to the Cosmos Sonata types.

They do have some decent small Acers now, if you get them in the first week and acclimatised for a few days they are fine.

The acers were a fab size to make into bonsai I was tempted , I think what you have is a chocolate Cosmos just like mine:dbgrtmb: you just have to be in very quickly to buy before they dry out or grow to quickly with the heat !!

I grabbed one of the small Acer Katsuras today at Wilkos as there was one decent one left, (the rest were burnt), just ready for a small glazed pot.

Aren't the leaves "feathery" on practically everything that's sprouting within the bags & boxes in Wilkos?

Strongy, the chocolate cosmos is a close relative of the dahlia and the leaves look very similar. They're nothing like the feathery cosmos plants. I suspect the two have nothing much in common except the name.
