    Hi,

My wife and I moved in to a new place last August with a pretty nice garden in full swing. We are total beginners when it comes to gardening. Along the back of our south facing garden we had a nice shrub that you see all over the place although I have no idea what it's called. It had some flowers pretty much all the whole time right up until the really cold weather when it just seemed to die right out. I have taken before and after photos so you can see what I mean.

My question is are these shrubs dead (there are about 6 of them)? If they aren't dead is there something I need to do (like cutting them right back) in order to get them going again?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Gavin

    Thanks to Pete and Kristen.

I checked the link and it said that they need to be pulled up in Autumn to avoid the frost - oops.

Any tips on what would be good to replace them? The garden is South facing but there isn't much sun at that point as there is a large wall behind that area.

Once again any tips, greatly appreciated.
