    Cool - Yes

    Light - sort of

Can I go with 1/2 inch of chitting for planting or wait for another year? :(

last year on gardenersworld they did a 'to chit or not to chit' trial. There was no difference in the 2. Stick em in the ground, see what happens!

Last year I put Anyas and Charlottes in 6" pots to start them off in the greenhouse. There was only a cm or so of shoot when they were potted. Once the foliage was around 3" high, they went in the ground.
There's not a lot happening in the G/H right now, so starting things off in there seems to really help get stuff established, and protects from the pigeons meanwhile.
Don't know if this is common practice, but it works for me [IMG]
Anyway on some afternoons this year it's been quite warm in there, and sitting with a beer and some compost and seeds and things is thoroughly pleasant ;)

    cheers,
    Dave

Funnily enough, I seem to be "growing" a few beer cans in my greenhouse too!
