    Hi All,

There are 2 hedges either side of my drive, that are over 7 foot tall. When pulling off the drive it is very difficult to see, the other day I nearly ran a pedestrian over, so have decided to lower as a matter of urgency. I have taken one down to about 4 foot, but there is nothing in the middle. Will it fill in? If not I think I will have to take the lot out.

Looks like laurel to me - tough as old boots... I really butchered mine last year, and although it did take the huff for a wee while, it wasn't long. This year, it is off and running again

Maybe give it chick poo or someother suitable food to help it put a growth spurt on. Was the pedestrian mortally wounded? I hope he/she wasnt a lawyer. :thud:

Laurel will repair itself i.e, fill in . It does take its time to do this . As Tam said may help to give it a couple off good feeds this season .

Can you trim the outer edges too? That really helped our privet recover.

      Hi All,

Thanks for the replies. I gave it a really good soaking the other night, I will give it a helping of chicken manure pellets every couple of weeks. I will trim the outer edges, but was unable to do so before as the battery on the hedge trimmer was flat. It has had a good charge so will do this in a bit.
