All our veg gardening is via vegtrug or pots/bags etc as we have no actual space for veg garden. This year we tried planting potatoes to be ready around Xmas in bags supposedly designed for spuds. Recent stormy strong winds has damaged all the stems and you can see they are dying off, I also suspect a animal has been clambering about among them too, local squirrels perhaps.

Should I cut my losses now before the rot goes further down the stems and collect what spuds might be there?

This our 1st attempt with spuds, I like zig's idea of earthing up beyond the container, I'll remember this for next year.

If it's just wind damage then the rot won't go down into the tubers. I'd leave them for as long as possible to maximise your yield.
