Can anyone recommend any high quality 'wind ornaments' please? I'm thinking of something where you put a stake in the ground and it has some colourful sails or similar which rotate in the wind. I ask here as the ones you normally buy from Amazon, etc tend to be cheaply made, usually in China, and as I live a couple of miles from the coast the air has an element of salt which causes things to rust pretty easily.

I could go for plastic but they don't stand up to the high winds that I also get.

Presumably there are companies, maybe UK-based, who produce suitable items made of metal which are treated against rust?

If you would be up for a bit of DIY, try googling 'aluminium can wind spinners'; there are lots of tutorials on YouTube. I have some here made several years ago from drinks cans and strung on washing line in a corner of the garden. The colours have faded a bit but no rust!

Not quite ornaments but I hang up CD's over my veg plots to keep the pigeons off. The coloured ones look quite interesting when they blow around and flash in the sun.

Of course, to take a thought out of the old TV satirical comedy drama "Brass" where they wanted a 'silent alarm' so used a flag. :roflol:

It's the same for me but from an opposite viewpoint. I can't stand the sound of any of them! Many years ago people stopped buying us wind chimes after I told them we don't want them!

Anyone want some old wind chimes? :roflol:

The quieter the better for me, foam rubber would work well.

If you go on line shopping for them a few sites will have the sound to listen to. I believe the one I gravitate to is the tone of G.

I love wind chimes, the bamboo type ones are said to be quieter if you are worried about annoying the neighbours .
