Since yesterday I have been using windows 7 Home Premium.
I have to report at this time that I am impressed.
I have installed all my mail and www stuff with no issues.
Longest job was making the three system backup DVDs which took about two Hrs.

Ta, only one place said it would work and another said no way. Since we cannot get Broadband either line based or Dongled we are a bit stuck really if it don't work And we need a new machine.

Could be some truth in what you say. because during the initial installation there was no mention of configuration for dial up... I could be wrong.

It's really fast, especially if you have a lot of RAM :) Vista wasn't much of an improvement on xp, but this is better :D

My new lappy has full house 4gig RAM, dual core running at 2Ghz. A tad quicker then the old one. But still not as fast as the desktop I had made for me a number of years ago which runs at 3.2Ghz. Ideal for the flight sim games and process heavy packages..

Windows 7 seems to be the most stable OS so far from the Microsoft stable, I've had no problems with any program I have loaded on, no compatibility issues of any kind and everything I've installed so far works fine on Windows 7...and I do install an awful lot of programs on my pc's.

Lots of nice little tweaks to win7 over Vista and Xp too, I especially like the snap to side feature so when you drag a window of to the side of the screen, it "snaps" and fills half of your screen, do the same to the other side and you quickly can view two docs together, handy for someone like myself who writes a lot of code and wants to compare. Another thing I find handy is the new "snipping tool" which easily allows to you to take screenshots..about time something like this was available.

    Steve...:)
