Microsoft issued yet another update for Windows 7 in the last 24 hours and it has cause mayhem on my computer....as all Microsoft updates seemed designed to do.:gaah: This evening when I started up the Steam Machine and opened up Google Chrome my gmail account had disappeared. I tried every way I could think of to find and recover it but, no, I couldn't find it. I managed to get to where I could open my account only to find that my password was not recognised:hate-shocked: The password recovery system was useless as it wanted another e-mail address to contact to complete the recovery.......I don't have one!!! So I couldn't add a person or open a new account:dunno:
So as an alternative I clicked on Internet Explorer...........and there was Google Chrome complete with my gmail account:gaah: What the heck happened there??

I've never had a problem with updates for Windows 7, perhaps there's something about your computer it doesn't like. However I've had problems with both Chrome and Firefox so stick with IE, perhaps Chrome could be the problem?

Good evening @ARMANDII my friend I did hear that Microsoft are playing with Windows 7/8.1 so that you will get so frustrated and will move to Windows 10:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Well, they do do regular updates, Woo, of 7 but it's only in the last 12 months that I've been getting regular problems after a update. I can usually get around them by doing a system restore, but in this last case that hasn't worked. So now, if I want to access my Google Chrome gmail account I'm having to use Internet Explorer..........how crazy is that?!!

Perhaps it's time to give up on it then, bite the bullet and load Windows 10. :)

I think Microsoft are giving @wiseowl gratuities for each promotion of W10. He is doing a very good job at finding every possible niche here on GC! :heehee:

Well, I've just rescheduled the Windows 10 download for the umpteenth time as I'm still not sure about it.:dunno::heehee:

What do I know, but for what it is worth my thoughts are its update is not compatible with Chrome.
In about 4 or 5 weeks some clever person will put a fix up on you tube.
                When enough people have complained.

I agree, Pete, but wouldn't you think that Microsoft, with their history of causing problems with their updates, would check first before releasing them and then causing even more resentment about the way they do things.:dunno::doh::gaah:

Good morning @ARMANDII my friend, I always only have windows Updates when I want them and decide which ones I want,Windows Update can also be a pain, particularly if it’s scheduled to work automatically. If that’s the case, you’ve probably experienced the head-in-the-hands moment where you’ve stepped away from your computer for a moment, only to return to an updating machine that reboots with all of your windows and work gone.

This is what happens when Windows Update downloads some updates and took it upon itself to reboot without your permission. This should never happen. At best, it's a hassle. At worst, you stand to lose any work you haven't saved;)

                    1. Click Start, type Windows Update, and then hit Enter..

                    2. Click the Change Settings option at left.

                    3. Change the setting to Download updates but let me choose whether to install them.

                    4. Click OK.

Microsoft hardly do any testing, they just release and wait for customer feedback. They have such a monopoly and make so much money they don't care.
