Here's a rough plan of what I hope my garden will be like. (Thought I'd better show something as I've been papping on for ages  The large shrubs to the left hand side are already done. Just got a concrete path and tons of turf to remove yet

P>S Think the pen and the ashtray really add to the composition [IMG] :D :D

It's going to look superb! Nice design and planning. I plotted mine on paper at the beginning but as I did things, things just kept changing .... still do, ha, ha!

A plan???  What's that? Sounds like a four letter word to me. [IMG] [IMG]

Our garden just growed and growed ;) ;)

Your plan looks great, but a lot of hard work.

I'm already worried there's not enough room for plants :D :D
The only reason it's on paper is because I'm frustrated at my lack of action recently. Need help to lift the path and the boy can't do it until tomorrow. But have borrowed some sort of machine off me Dads mate to smash up the concrete, so should have it done in no time [IMG]
    BM,
as for the Miscanthus - saw yours, got a Zebrinus, now have a few others. OOh I love them! If i'd found them in my 20s I'd have never had kids :D :D

Mmmmm, judging from BM's picture, you would have to be carefully siting this in your planned garden. Too bold a statement can overpower what you want from the rest. Great design shape though - helps focus on what you want [IMG]

    Give it some welly! :D :D :D

There are smaller versions like the zebrinus and you can keep the clump far smaller than I have allowed mine to become. [IMG]

And with the phormiums having a similar position further down the plan you sill stretch your garden as the smaller phormiums will appear further away in contrast with the tall miscanthus, Clever Windy!!! ;)

I need privacy and seclusion, and was hoping that by putting a few taller things that you can glimpse the rest of the garden through would make the garden appear bigger, and give me a few hidey holes. But the plans not set in stone, I'll modify as I go.
I want it to be a magic garden for the kids, with plants that are huge to them that you can walk through. Miscanthus is great, maximum plant for minimum effort [IMG]
Thanks for all your support guys, hopefully it will be all planted by Winter; and I'll be at the chiropractors :D :D

Looking promising windy ,when we came here it was all overgrown but nowt under it when we got it cleared ,still working on it.I tend to just let it happen. My previous garden was huge which i found easier than this one.
Want to get something bigger to take the sharp corners away but not look uniformed.I will find some pics. to put on.

    ***UPDATE***
The hideous concrete path that ran down the left hand side of the garden has gone [IMG] [IMG] Several hours with a crowbar and sledgehammer did the trick. YIPPEE!!!
I can start to map out my circles now. Just got to let my shoulder recover first
