I am growing cabbages for the first time and bought some winter cabbage seedlings about a month ago. They are in large pots at the moment and I am going to transplant them to beds tomorrow. The thing is, they seem very tall for cabbage plants - I might be being dense but I imagined that they would stay quite squat and wide? Am I doing something wrong?:cnfs:

They get up to about 12 to 24 inches depending on variety.

Thanks! That's a relief! I was going to grow them in the same bed as some broccoli for next spring - will that be okay?

Yes - I find it's better to keep all my brassicas together, I net them to keep off pigeons. Also from the crop rotation point of view it makes sense to keep all the same family of plants in one bed.
