Wintering trailing pansies

    Hi,

    was wondering how i should winter trailing pansies (friolina) that i have outside in hanging baskets
    Do i cut them back or leave alone and should they be brought into the greenhouse.

    Hi Slimgeo
    As far as i know pansies can stand most weathers , just keep dead heading and giving general care, if you like you can put it in the greenhouse if its in a very cold spot and you cant give it any shelter,
    if you see any bare stems i cut them off to keep the basket tidy

    I left my trailing pansies out and it seems to be ok.

    i planted some winter ones out today in window boxes.I some of those water retaining crystals in to.Not sure if i should have now with all the rain we will have this time of year.... :dh:but on the other hand when i emptied out the window boxes only the top 1/2 was wet,near the bottom was pretty dry:cnfs:

    I still have my basket Fuchsias going well .:gnthb:
    I don`t normally do a winter hanging basket as I am away through the winter and it has to fend for itself :wink:, but I am considering putting out a few winter pansies in with some ivy and hoping we don`t have too many long dry spells between now and mid March. :lollol:
    I have a couple of moisture retaining pads and usually put a saucer in the bottom to stop moisture all draining away. :yez:
