I opened a bag of my own garden compost that I'd stored since last September and noticed a few tiny worm-like creatures on the top of the compost. My first thought was wireworm but after scooping out the insects to feed to the birds I thought I'd take some photos.
These are about 8mm in length and seem to have lots of legs so I'm guessing that that they are millipedes. Am I right and if so should I zapp them?

The Wireworm is the larvae of the Click Beetle, and while the Athous species of Wireworm looks similar to a Millipedede the Athous species has a black head and a Millipede does not.....so I think that is a Millipede in the pic.:snork:
