    Hi,

All Still new to this but I have been reading up about pruning my wisteria, twice a year august and jan / feb, my question is I want it grow over the pergola (if possible) what do I prune off or do I just leave it this year, pictures attached showing new growth, at the bottom 901.jpg and top 899.jpg but not much in the middle 900.jpg

Any help would be great as so far i have found this forum to be very friendly and helpful.

Training wisteria isn't difficult but explaining it gets a bit complicated. It all revolves around letting the leader grow unchecked until it is over the top of the pergola, and then pinching it out to allow side shoots to form. The only thing I would say is don't be overzealous with the pruning until it has reached the height that you want it.

I know the RHS used to have some information on how to train and prune them on their website, might be worth having a look.
