Our back garden is around 35ft long & slopes steadily upwards and to the left, as we live on a hill. The left hand edge is 2ft higher than the right, and the far end backs onto a field with sheep & cows in. We are 900ft up on open grouse moors and get bad winters with a lot of snow.
There is nowhere level to put a deckchair so I have to sit on the grass. We are both old and decrepit and cannot do heavy digging, although we have started a square level veg plot. I long for flowers and shelter and a SEAT !
IS THERE ANY HOPE AT ALL FOR THIS GARDEN ? lol !!

Awh am sorry to whine and seem ungrateful . I will take a pic of the next coo that leans over the fence and eats the remains of my pansies and you can have it blown up & stick it on your garden fence :)

I don't think it's all hopeless Ming. You don't have to level the whole garden but you could probably level a small area for a couple of chairs to give you a nice place to sit. You could put a little screen of windbreak or something round it to give you some shelter and grow some flowers in pots to brighten it up. Make a little oasis and enjoy.

Ok. What we have decided to do is to level off a bit in the top corner and buy a nice summerhouse/pottingshed . In front of that will be a level bit of grass. Paving would be better but totally beyond us . Can't do it until next year because the top bit is a jungle of nettles, and in front of that is my tatties :) Am working now on what to do around the other three edges. That will still leave a sloping hill in the middle but thats ok. Will do to hang the clothes out and eed the birds on !
