Woad

    Everyone knows that the Ancient Britons painted themselves blue with woad, but have you ever seen woad? It was introduced into Britain in prehistoric times but is now all but extinct in the wild. It can sometimes be found in herb gardens. The Greeks and Romans also valued the blue dye which is obtained from the crushed leaves.

    This one is in flower today in my front garden.

    I have some of this allthough mine isnt in flower yet..it smells lovely..
